Local Law Enforcement
Roughly fifty cars have been covered with what seems to be human bodily fluid in the Germany's town of Hanau in proximity to Frankfurt, police confirm law enforcement.
Vehicles, exterior walls and postal boxes were vandalized, in some cases with swastikas, they announced in a official communication.
Police state they were notified during the night on Wednesday evening, when a man observed that a vehicle in the Lamboy area of Hanau had been covered with a reddish liquid.
The fluid had been drawn in the form of a Nazi symbol, they reported.
Police then found multiple other smeared vehicles and building exteriors in the adjacent neighborhood.
Swastikas are prohibited in Germany under regulations banning the visible presentation of Nazi-era symbols.
Police report initial examinations suggest the liquid was probably blood from a person.
"Currently there is no indication as to its origin; authorities are currently not informed of any harm in relation with the occurrence," they commented.
Local authorities stated they were trying "to solve the incident" and have appealed to the residents for tips.
A high-ranking political figure said the attack left him without words and required to be solved promptly.
"This incident hits the very heart of Hanau and reawakens the trauma of the right-wing terrorist attack in 2020," he stated on social media, referring to the killing of nine people by a assailant targeting people of migrant background in February 2020.
